I received a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Art from Lviv College of Decorative Art in 1976.

I had a major in “Art, work on stone, wood and bones” and was awarded a qualification of an Artist-master of Decorative Art by the State Examination Committee.

After completing five more years of graduate work from 1976 to 1981, I was awarded a Master’s of Science Degree in Art and Interior and Equipment design.

From 1984 to 1999 I held the position of Professor of Art at the Lviv Academy of Art in Lviv, Ukraine.

Since coming to the United States in 2000 I have been the head artist of the paint department of stained glass at the Bovard Studio in Fairfield, Iowa.

I have expertise and have taught virtually every type of art, and I am very anxious to return to teaching.

Personal Philosophy of Art Education

My philosophy of art education centers on empowering students through authentic learning.  “Real art works” are genuine authentic expressions and should communicate something.  It may be some grand statement or perhaps a quiet observation, but it needs to be a genuine and honest response to be art.

It is my goal to provide a learning environment where students feel safe and will be shown how they have the abilities to understand concepts, elements and principles of art, and to apply this knowledge to the execution of expressive works of art that instill a sense of pride, accomplishment, and self-worth.

A proper education in the arts can strengthen reasoning and cognitive skills, build self-esteem, proffer discipline and respect, help dissolve gender and cultural boundaries, and create ties to the local community through recognition from exhibits and group projects that go beyond the college campus.
